Welcome to The Everyday Creative, a podcast that encourages creation over consumption. Through this podcast, your hosts Emily (certified health education specialist and Evie (licensed art therapist) will talk about ways everyday people can incorporate creativity into their lives in order to consume less and create more.
Each week, we'll discuss a topic related to creativity or consumption. This week, Emily and Evie introduce themselves and the show to help you understand who they are and what this project is.
While consuming less impacts environmental concerns, we believe overconsumption ultimately limits personal happiness and the ability to thrive. Creativity, however, can increase happiness and lead to a more fulfilling life.
I'm not an artist; I'm not creative; I don't have enough time, money, or insert any other limiting thought here. This show will help illuminate and dispel limiting beliefs and myths blocking you from your creative self. We will offer actionable steps and advice on how you can add creativity to your life while at the same time helping you remove some of the consumptive behaviors that might be taking up your time, energy, or money.

Creativity is the infinite internal process of bringing into existence something new in order to solve problems, communicate, make connections, or add value.
Consumption is the external act of using up a resource.
During this show segment, we introduce four ways to interact with the material presented: A question to answer, a quest to complete, an aspect of creativity we've noticed this week, and a quote to ponder.
For this segment, we will pose a question to discuss related to creativity or consumption. Listeners are invited to this about and/or email us with your comments: theeverydaycreativepodcast@gmail.com
This week: Is Creativity always a good thing?
This is a call to action for the week. We'll practice it throughout the week, and listeners are encouraged to do the same. Weekly quests will vary in degree of difficulty or how much time and resources are needed. We want to hear how the quest goes for you. Email us: theeverydaycreativepodcast@gmail.com
This week: Think about the new expanded definition of creativity defined in today’s show and start paying attention to how it shows up (or not) in your life. Once you become aware of these opportunities, you can grow them. As an extra step, write down some of the things that you notice that are creative in your life or in the lives of others.
In this segment, we will talk about something creative they noticed in their lives during the week or recently. These will be examples of how people practice creativity in their daily lives. It could be tangible or intangible, such as a creative way of doing something, a creative way of problem-solving, etc. If you catch someone being a Quality Creative, let us know: theeverydaycreativepodcast@gmail.com
This week: Problem-solving in the Art Therapy in Prisons Program for an art exhibition.

vocational class + donated sheets = problem solved!
We will end every show with a quote related to creativity and the show's topic.
This week:
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."
